Welcome to Hillside Christian Academy!
At Hillside Christian Academy, we form flourishing difference-makers for Christ by training them to love truth, goodness, and beauty.
Why Christian Education?
What is HCA?
-
Classical Christian education is a time-tested educational system which establishes a biblical worldview, incorporates methods based on natural phases of child development, cultivates the seven Christian virtues, trains students in reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric).
-
We believe the Bible alone to be the Word of God, the ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent; that is, He can do all things. He is omnipresent; that is, He is present to all creation, and has under His immediate authority all things which are in Heaven, in the earth, and under the earth. He is omniscient; that is, He knows all things. He readily exercises His power which is present everywhere, and to Him there is nothing that is impossible or unknown, that is, He knows what has been from eternity, what now takes place everywhere, and what will be to all eternity.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone.
We believe that faith without works is dead.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life, and they that are lost to the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably created each person as distinctly male or female. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. To reject one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person and is a sin against God.
We believe that marriage was created and sanctioned by God in which God joins one man and one woman in a single and exclusive union.
We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. Any form of sexual intimacy outside of marriage is immoral and is a sin against God. Sexual immorality includes, but is not limited to adultery, fornication, homosexual conduct, and pornography.
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
-
This is more than adding a bible verse to the curriculum. When history, science, math, philosophy, art, and other subjects are integrated around the truth that God is the Creator of all that exists, and therefore all knowledge is interrelated and points back to Him.
-
Christ-centered by:
Teaching all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with the Scriptures at the center (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)
Providing a clear model of the biblical Christian life through our staff and board (Matthew 22:37-40)
Encouraging every student to begin and develop his or her relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ by the work of the Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20)
Classical by:
Emphasizing grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subjects (see definitions below);
Encouraging every student to develop a love for learning and live up to his academic potential;
Providing an orderly atmosphere conducive to the attainment of the above goals.
Testimonials
“Hillside Christian Academy is an excellent school that helps children learn academically and religiously. My son has only grown since switching from public school and we’re thankful for the staff that have helped us along our way.”
— Danielle
“There are a lot of things to love here at Hillside. I love the people I work with, and they are the best support system I’ve ever worked with in my whole career. Wonderful students and families. We are truly building something so wonderful here at Hillside.”
— Mrs. Griffith, Pre-K Teacher
"As a professional educator, making the leap from public education to a private Christian school that reinforces what we teach at home has been a beautiful decision. Having seen firsthand the limitations placed on teachers and students within public school systems, I’m incredibly grateful for the freedom and intentionality we’ve found here. The fact that my Pre-K student is already learning phonics—rather than waiting until kindergarten—has only helped set her ahead."
— Bethany
“We took the leap from Public to Private school because one of our children was needing more advanced material and the other needed more one on one attention. With being 2e (twice exceptional:giftedness and disabilities,) both kids fit right in. Public school refused to move my son up a grade level and within 3 months, he was moved up a grade level due to his performance. Our daughter is in a very small classroom and receives way more attention than public school was able to offer her. She is being pushed to her potential now at Hillside. We have seen huge improvements in handwriting with their “pretty handwriting” curriculum. We love that they teach Greek, music history, and art history, with a wonderful music program. The music program puts on a show for Christmas and Easter. Everyday they have a Chapel chat that focuses on the Bible and everyday life. Each week they learn a new Bible verse, along with learning the books of the Bible, the 10 commandments and spelling words that go along with their literature. There is a zero bullying policy and we have seen such an improvement in their peers and how the children come home with wholesome topics discussed at school. Overall we are totally satisfied with our switch and the Hope Scholarship that has made this happen for our family. Don’t hesitate to reach out on Facebook to schedule your tour today!"
