Memorial Day - No School

As we observe Memorial Day, we take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. In recognition of their courage and dedication, there will be no school today. Let us use this day to reflect on their sacrifices and the freedoms we enjoy because of their bravery.

Heavenly Father,

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who have given their lives in service to our nation. We are deeply grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and dedication. Their bravery has preserved the freedoms we hold dear, and we honor their memory with reverence and gratitude. We ask for Your blessings on all who have served and their families. Grant them peace, comfort, and strength as they remember their loved ones and continue their own journey of service and sacrifice. Help us, as students and members of this community, to carry forward the legacy of those who have served by living with integrity, compassion, and gratitude. May we cherish the freedoms they have secured and work to build a better, more just world in their honor. Thank You for the gift of freedom and the opportunity to live in a country where we can learn, grow, and contribute. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.

Wishing you a reflective and meaningful Memorial Day. We look forward to welcoming you back to school with renewed appreciation for the values and freedoms we hold dear.

If we don’t actively practice kindness, it can fade away. However, when we continue to show love through acts of kindness, it grows and spreads, touching the lives of others in ways we may never fully know.

The story of Abraham and Sarah also teaches us that God wants us to place our faith and trust in Him, rather than relying on our own efforts to fulfill His promises. The lesson is clear: God desires faith and trust, and His plan will unfold exactly as He intends, regardless of our attempts to control or rush the process. Trusting in God and not our own efforts is a key part of walking in obedience.

Patience is referred to as forbearance, which suggests a spirit of enduring and showing tolerance or self-restraint in difficult circumstances. It’s one of the qualities that naturally grows in the life of a believer as they walk in the Holy Spirit.

The lesson encouraged us to think about how we can be patient and trust God in our own lives, especially when we have to wait for something or don’t understand His plan right away.

When we love others as Christ loves us, we are more willing to forgive, show grace, and work for reconciliation—acts of peacemaking. Love, therefore, is the foundation of peace. As we love those around us, we create an environment where peace can thrive.

In light of today’s lesson, living in peace with others is a natural outgrowth of loving them. When we love as God calls us to, we become conduits of His peace in a broken world.

One day, the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would have a son, Jesus, who would be the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Mary was surprised and asked how this could happen, but the angel explained that the Holy Spirit would make it possible. Mary accepted God's plan, saying, "I am the Lord's servant."

Joseph, who was engaged to Mary, was upset when he found out she was pregnant. He planned to quietly end the engagement, but an angel appeared to him in a dream and told him not to be afraid to marry Mary, as the baby was from the Holy Spirit. Joseph trusted God and took Mary as his wife.

Because of a census, Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem, but the town was crowded, and there was no room for them. They ended up in a stable, where Mary gave birth to Jesus and laid him in a manger. The world was too busy to notice, but in that quiet moment, the Savior of the world was born.

The joy of Paul and Silas can be compared to the ripening of grapes in that both experiences involve a gradual process of growth and transformation. Just as grapes ripen over time, becoming sweeter and more flavorful, Paul and Silas' joy developed amidst hardship. While imprisoned and suffering, they maintained their faith and joy, which deepened and grew, much like grapes reaching their full potential in the right conditions. Their unwavering joy in the face of adversity became a testimony to others, just as ripened grapes are harvested to be shared.
